Job Summary

UPMC is seeking a skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to perform imaging procedures at a technical level, requiring independent judgment and initiative. The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to interact with patients and co-workers, while displaying a high level of caring, listening, dignity, and respect.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist physicians with invasive procedures as necessary, adhering to universal protocol standards.
  • Ensure all exams are properly coded and tracked through the RIS system, and all charges are adequately entered.
  • Perform a variety of technical ultrasound procedures, correlating patient history, laboratory data, and physical findings for medical diagnosis.
  • Utilize appropriate ultrasound instrumentation and demonstrate knowledge of equipment operations, applications, and scanning techniques.
  • Obtain and document image data, including cross-sectional anatomy and ultrasonic characteristics of normal and abnormal tissues.
Requirements
  • Completion of formal training in an Ultrasound program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) required.
  • RDMS registered or registry eligible preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required.
