Job Summary

Xcel Energy is seeking a highly experienced Senior Director to lead our Major Projects team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for establishing strategic direction and overseeing the execution of all major capital projects within Operations. This includes developing and managing project budgets, ensuring compliance with quality assurance and control programs, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to drive project success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage a team of project managers and leads to ensure successful project delivery, including feasibility and justification, planning and design, procurement, construction and installation, commissioning and start-up, and close-out.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, including capital investment plans and risk management strategies.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including business units, regulatory agencies, and contractors, to ensure project compliance and quality assurance.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including project sponsors, customers, and vendors.
  • Develop and implement process improvements to enhance project delivery and efficiency.

Requirements

  • BS in Engineering, Construction Management, or Project Management (Advanced degree preferred).
  • 15 years of industry experience in design, construction, operation, and maintenance of generation and asset facilities, as well as linear assets such as electric distribution, electric transmission, and gas facilities.
  • Exceptional management skills, with experience in leading large-scale projects and managing multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with experience in presenting to executive-level audiences.
  • Strong understanding of financial and regulatory issues, with experience in managing project budgets and risk.

Preferred Requirements

  • Professional Engineer License (PE)
