Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Nursing Assistant I to join our team in the Emergency Room Department at UNC Hospitals. This is a full-time position that requires a high level of clinical expertise and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities
  • Assist physicians and other healthcare providers with routine examinations and procedures.
  • Provide direct and indirect patient care in a hospital, clinic, or home healthcare setting.
  • Observe, collect, and document patient information obtained while providing care.
  • Provide assistance to patients and their families during admission, orientation, and discharge.
  • Perform various tasks such as measuring vital signs, height and weight, specimen collection, and providing wound care.
  • Provide indirect care to patients and assigned areas, including cleaning, restocking supplies, and transporting patients and supplies.
Requirements
  • Currently licensed as a Nursing Assistant I by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.
  • Basic Life Support Provider certificate (or willing to receive it on your own).
  • Prefer six (6) months of nursing assistant experience.
Benefits

This position qualifies for our Nursing Support Incentive Program, which includes a $5,000 payment over a three-year commitment. Additionally, this position offers an extensive benefit package, including PTO hours, accrued based on worked hours.

Work Environment

This is a 36-hour per week position with variable shifts, including rotating weekends and holidays. The UNC Hospitals Emergency Department is a designated Level 1 Trauma Center, serving as North Carolina's primary referral hospital and community hospital for Chapel Hill/Orange County.
