Electric Arc Furnace Operations Lead

Harrison Steel Castings Co. is seeking a dedicated and experienced Furnace Supervisor for the first shift. This role is essential in overseeing the operations of our electric arc furnaces, ensuring the production of high-quality metal grades and adherence to processing standards, from raw scrap steel to the exact specifications of liquid steel required by our customers. The Furnace Supervisor will report directly to the Melting Operations Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide training to team members; plan, assign, and oversee work tasks; evaluate employee performance; implement rewards and disciplinary actions; address grievances and resolve operational issues.
- Organize production schedules based on the requirements of the Furnace department and the Foundry department.
- Collaborate with the Foundry and molding lines to optimize processing schedules, batch timings, and order fulfillment.
- Monitor data and processes to ensure efficient production operations.
- Maintain an adequate supply of necessary materials and monitor equipment functionality, reporting any issues to the Maintenance or Engineering teams.
- A valid fork truck license is preferred.
Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required, along with a minimum of one year of relevant experience or training. A degree in Engineering Technology is highly desirable. Proficiency in basic computer skills and mathematics is necessary; knowledge of metallurgy is strongly preferred.
Work Environment
This position may involve occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the office is typically moderate, while it can be very loud in the Furnace department. The production facilities are not climate-controlled, with temperatures potentially reaching 100 degrees during summer months and dropping below 40 degrees in winter. Reasonable accommodations may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.
