Key Challenges:
Our Texas division is seeking a qualified Structural Bridge Engineer to engage in the design, load rating, and assessment of highway and railroad bridges.
Ideal candidates will demonstrate robust technical expertise, strong communication skills, and the ability to conduct field assessments while thriving in a collaborative team environment on diverse projects.
This position offers flexibility in location across various TranSystems offices in Texas.
Primary Duties (additional responsibilities may apply):
- Engage in structural engineering tasks as part of a design or inspection team.
- Execute engineering calculations and develop MicroStation/CADD drawings as necessary.
- Utilize engineering analysis software for LRFD ratings of bridges.
- Participate in structure inspection tasks, including photography, measurements, and sketching.
- Contribute to the creation of engineering reports detailing inspection results.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support business objectives.
Qualifications:
What You Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in structural or civil engineering.
- PE License.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in structural engineering for DOTs or Railroads.
- Familiarity with AASHTO, AREMA, AISC, and ACI design codes.
- Strong problem-solving skills and understanding of Critical Path Management.
- Ability to articulate observations clearly through sketches and technical writing.

Required Software and Tools:
- Microsoft Office Suite
- AASHTOWare BrR / Midas Civil / CSI Bridge
- BrM/AssetWise Inspection Reporting
- CADD (AUTOCAD or Bentley MicroStation)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Over 7 years of experience in bridge design, load rating, or inspection.
- Experience with LRFD & LRFR of Highway Bridges.
- National Highway Institute accreditation in Inspection of In-Service and NSTM Bridges.
