Operations Director

As a key member of the Campbell Soup Company team, the Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing the management of multiple business units or production departments within the manufacturing plant. This role requires a strong leader who can set direction and achieve results through the entire operations team, prioritizing safety, quality, and productivity while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage, lead, and support multiple departments across the operation teams, including Packaging, Processing, Quality, Sanitation, Warehouse, and Maintenance, ensuring established safety, quality, service, and costs initiatives are delivered and commitments are met.
- Review production schedules, monitor, evaluate, and optimize production execution, establishing priorities and sequences as needed to achieve optimal results.
- Manage safe work practices throughout the plant, observing safe work practices and communicating policies and practices with Business Unit Leaders/Department Managers, supervisors, and team members.
- Oversee in-production product inspections and audits, ensuring adherence to Quality and Food Safety standards that meet regulatory and customer expectations.
- Review production and operating reports, resolving operational, manufacturing, quality, and maintenance problems to minimize cost, operational delays, and Consumer and Foreign Matter complaints.
- Analyze and resolve work problems or assist team members in solving work problems, troubleshooting unusual or difficult issues requiring coordination and communication across cross-functional departments.
- Develop, coach, and/or mentor direct reports and team members, familiarizing them with established policies, procedures, rules, and regulations, and communicating daily production performance and day-to-day issues with Business Unit/Department Leaders and team members.
- Drive employee engagement, implementing effective training programs to develop leadership and technical skills within both the salaried and hourly workforce, providing feedback on performance and participating in creating development plans for each direct report.
- Maintain a cohesive associate working environment, ensuring teambuilding sessions are conducted within each department, and serving as a champion for developing and maintaining a strong "CI" culture within the respective departments and across departments.
- Serve as a key Corporate contact for all Marketing, Sales, and Product Supply Chain initiatives that involve processing and packaging innovation or changes, reviewing financial budgets, statements, and data to improve efficiency across Business Units, and managing the WIP inventory.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree
- 5+ years prior production manager experience in a food manufacturing environment
- Bachelor's Degree, Engineering, Business Management, Administration; Leadership
- 5+ years prior production manager experience in a food manufacturing or Pharmaceutical environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience required
- High performance work systems experience highly desired
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; exercise discretion while managing confidential information
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills
- Effective interpersonal and leadership skills, including listening and managing skills required to work in and manage teams
- Solid conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
- Ability to identify and manage projects from concept to implementation and successfully drive project results
- Knowledge of Word, Excel, and Internet software
- Self-starter, big picture, leadership skills, empowering employees, process-driven, coaching-mentoring style, data-driven, decision-making
- Driving ownership and accountability
