Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Responsible/Analysis Engineer - Environmental Control Systems (ECS) Specialist or Principal Responsible/Analysis Engineer - ECS Systems Development Lead to join our team at Northrop Grumman. This role will be responsible for designing and developing ECS systems and components, as well as performing system-related analysis and testing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Perform responsible engineer activities, including ECS system/component design and development, trade studies, layouts, architecture definition, system test & verification, and troubleshooting.
  • System Analysis: Perform system-related analysis, such as performance simulation, in support of the development of the ECS subsystem, including integration with other aircraft subsystems.
  • System Testing: Plan, execute, and verify system-level tests, as well as troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • System Evaluations: Conduct system-level evaluations to verify requirements and ensure airworthiness criteria are met.
  • Communication: Attend internal program, customer, and/or supplier technical exchange meetings and/or formal program milestone reviews to provide and/or obtain progress status updates.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline.
  • Experience: 2-5 years of engineering experience, depending on the level of the position.
  • Clearance: Must have the ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to the commencement of employment.
  • Skills: Professional experience related to the development and integration of ECS systems in either commercial or military aircraft applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Clearance: Active DoD Secret (or higher) clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
  • Education: Masters degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering with focus on thermodynamic, fluid mechanic, and/or heat transfer disciplines.
  • Experience: Experience with aircraft subsystem development, including requirements definition, specification development, component analysis, procurement, source selection, integration, and test and verification for advanced aircraft.
  • Skills: Experience performing thermodynamic, fluid mechanic, and/or heat transfer analysis related to military/commercial aircraft and subsystems.
  • Software: Experience modeling fluid systems utilizing Amesim, MATLAB/Simulink, Thermal Desktop, Flomaster, and/or STAR-CCM+ software.
  • Process: Experience with the military airworthiness certification process using MIL-HDBK-516.
  • Documentation: Experience interpreting component detail drawings, specifications, installation drawings, and test procedures.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated experience in leadership related to integrated product teams, including supplier and customer (internal and external) relations.
