Job Overview

Position Summary:
Responsible for the storage, preparation, cooking, and presentation of all food items in accordance with local regulations and IHOP's Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

Key Responsibilities

The essential duties include:

  • Fostering and maintaining professional relationships with fellow IHOP staff.
  • Preparing meals in line with the specifications outlined in the IHOP SOP manuals.
  • Learning and utilizing IHOP-specific culinary terminology, plating techniques, menu items, procedures, utensils, abbreviations, and methodologies.
  • Ensuring a clean and sanitary workspace.
  • Adhering to all local health, sanitation, and safety guidelines as well as IHOP's SOP standards.
  • Following IHOP's uniform and appearance policies as per SOP guidelines.
  • Completing additional tasks as assigned by management or supervisory staff.
Qualifications

Education and Experience

A minimum of six months to one year of relevant experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Proficiency

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Proficiency in understanding oral instructions in English and reading English or Spanish sufficiently to interpret recipes and customer orders.

Mathematical Skills

Capability to perform basic arithmetic operations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form. Capability to address problems involving multiple concrete variables in standardized situations.

Additional Skills

Completion of IHOP training courses as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. Employees must be at least 18 years old to operate kitchen equipment.
