Position Overview:

The Design Engineer will also mentor junior engineers and oversee various project components.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Innovate and develop new products, including conducting market analysis and creating 3D models and technical drawings.
  • Prepare and deliver comprehensive design presentations.
  • Evaluate designs for manufacturability of components and parts.
  • Utilize engineering principles to create aesthetically pleasing and functional products.
  • Guide manufacturing partners and suppliers on production methodologies and resolve product-related issues as needed.
  • Collaborate with the development team to achieve project deadlines and budgetary goals.
  • Review and analyze drawings, documents, and CAD models with the production team for ongoing projects.
  • Engage with Sales, Marketing, Production, Quality, and other departments to update project status and gather feedback.
  • Ensure thorough production qualification, including testing and verification of manufacturing capabilities.
  • Conduct physical testing of components in both field and laboratory settings.
  • Implement design modifications and updates to existing parts, jigs, fixtures, and tools as necessary.
  • Work with the manufacturing team on vendor selection, sourcing, and contract discussions.
  • Effectively manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Navigate complex technological developments and challenging customer interactions successfully.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient in CAD software with extensive modeling experience.
  • Capability to transition a product from initial concept through detailed design to production.
  • Familiarity with various engineering tools such as FEA, FMEA, and Lean methodologies.
  • Understanding of diverse materials and manufacturing techniques.
  • Knowledge of product development processes and sourcing is advantageous.
  • Experience in the defense sector is highly desirable.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

Experience:

A minimum of 5 years in product development and detailed design of parts or systems.

Experience in automotive, power sports, consumer products, or similar industries is preferred.

Work Environment:

Office-based role requiring prolonged periods of sitting and visual acuity for data entry and validation on computer systems.

Some travel may be necessary.
