Position Summary:
The Community-Based Specialist utilizes the Homebuilders Model to equip families with the necessary tools to prevent out-of-home placement or reunification services. This role involves implementing an evidence-based model, utilizing training and supervision guidance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach essential skills to family members, including presentation, modeling, role-playing, constructive feedback, coaching, praising, and encouraging.
- Develop an understanding of systems serving families, including legal, social services, healthcare, and school systems.
- Consult and advocate with other service providers to help family members achieve their goals.
Requirements:
- Master's degree in social work, psychology, marriage and family therapy, or a related human service field.
- Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or a related human service field with at least 2 years of direct social service experience.
- Belief system and faith practices compatible with the United Methodist Church.
- Ability to pass standard background checks, including drug screen, employment physical, SLED, DSS Central Registry, and Sex Offenders Registry.
- Bilingual preferred.
