Compensation Overview

Our educators are pivotal to our mission, and we are committed to offering competitive compensation. For the upcoming academic year, starting salaries for certified teachers in their inaugural year are set at $60,000 in our Philadelphia locations and $55,000 in Wilmington. Alongside attractive starting salaries, we provide a comprehensive benefits package and a strong emphasis on professional development.

About the Role

As a Secondary English Language Arts Educator at Freire Charter School Wilmington, you will play a crucial role in guiding students through their high school journey. Our focus is on ensuring that every student not only graduates from high school but also is prepared for college. Our supportive community is dedicated to helping students reach their full potential, evidenced by our recent graduates receiving substantial scholarship offers from numerous colleges and universities.

Your Responsibilities

  • Foster a classroom environment that promotes critical thinking, respect, and high achievement.
  • Utilize curriculum aligned with educational standards to enhance student learning and problem-solving skills.
  • Maintain open communication with families regarding student progress and school activities.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and collaborate with colleagues to meet student needs.

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or higher.
  • A valid state teaching certification or a commitment to obtaining one.
  • Strong knowledge of English Language Arts.

  • A minimum of two years of successful experience with diverse student populations.

Compensation and Benefits

Starting salaries for new certified teachers begin at $55,000, with an annual salary range of $50,000 to $90,000 based on experience and qualifications. Our benefits package includes health, dental, and vision coverage, along with participation in the state pension plan and optional retirement savings plans.
