SUMMARY
The Executive Director is accountable for the strategic leadership and operational management of the organization, ensuring alignment with the foundational principles outlined in the articles of incorporation, by-laws, mission statement, and policies set forth by the governing board. This role requires collaboration with the board to establish and communicate a compelling long-term vision while securing necessary support and resources from individuals, organizations, and the community to fulfill the agency's objectives. The Executive Director is adept at fostering partnerships among various entities, whether they share similar goals or have competing interests. Driven by a commitment to service, the individual must exhibit compassion, respect, and understanding towards the challenges faced by the homeless population, dedicated to equipping them with the necessary tools for rebuilding their lives.
Key Responsibilities:
Board Engagement
· Provide regular updates to the board of directors regarding ongoing initiatives, emerging opportunities, potential risks, and significant organizational developments. Seek guidance and insights from board members as needed.
· Collaborate with the Board of Directors to formulate strategic plans, regularly reviewing and adjusting these plans to ensure clarity of objectives.
· Prepare and disseminate necessary materials and reports for board meetings and committee functions.
· Attend board committee meetings to support their objectives.
· Lead the development and management of the annual budget.
Financial and Human Resource Management
· Successfully secure human and financial resources to meet the organization's current and future needs, leveraging a robust volunteer program and comprehensive fundraising initiatives.
· Identify and engage individuals capable of making significant contributions, developing strategies to solicit major gifts.
· Maintain a balance between financial sustainability and human service objectives.
· Collaborate with management on human resources consulting.
Staff Management
· Recruit dedicated personnel who align with the agency's mission.
· Develop and implement a staff retention strategy.
· Regularly update job descriptions to reflect current needs.
· Assess the relevance of each position during recruitment processes.
· Supervise, support, and provide ongoing training for staff members.
Fundraising Oversight
· Oversee all fundraising activities.
· Utilize networks to explore new funding opportunities.
· Investigate potential grant awards and private funding sources.
Operational Management
· Develop and enforce agency policies and procedures, ensuring compliance.
· Monitor the effectiveness of financial and operational controls.
· Ensure compliance with all governmental regulations, legal requirements, and grant obligations.
· Ensure that grant-funded programs adhere to contractual guidelines and operate within budget constraints.
· Initiate the development of a strategic plan to support the agency's mission and sustainability.
Community Engagement
· Foster partnerships with other non-profit organizations, faith-based groups, businesses, and community members to create innovative programs that advance the agency's mission.
· Enhance community awareness of the agency's mission and the issues faced by the homeless population.
· Serve as an advocate for the organization within the community and among funding sources.
· Promote positive public policies addressing homelessness.
· Participate in community task forces and networking groups relevant to the agency's mission.
Additional Responsibilities:

Essential Characteristics:
Supervisory Role
This position oversees the performance of all staff, directly supervising key leadership roles. The Executive Director must provide clear direction, empower team members, and foster a collaborative environment that values teamwork and personal development.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill essential duties effectively. The following qualifications are required: a Master's degree in social work or a related field is preferred; a Bachelor's degree in social work or related human services is acceptable. A minimum of five years of administrative experience in a successful non-profit organization, including staff management and development, is essential. A solid understanding of the financial and operational landscape of non-profits is required, along with fundraising experience.
