About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Software Engineer to join our Business Applications team at Extreme Engineering Solutions. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining internal tools, applications, and APIs that empower our manufacturing, engineering, and administrative capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with peers and stakeholders to gather requirements, define scope, and apply your technical expertise to solve business problems.
  • Become knowledgeable in the business domains relevant to the software you build and operate.
  • Be a proactive member of your self-organizing software team by participating in planning sessions, facilitating code reviews, and engaging with other teams with a high level of autonomy.
  • Help your team to continuously improve by contributing to tooling, documentation, and development practices.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited high school (or valid General Educational Development certificate).
  • Minimum of three (3+) years of experience writing production code in a professional setting.
  • Proficiency with PHP 7.4+ / 8.0+.
  • Experience with one or more modern PHP web frameworks (e.g., Symfony/Laravel/Laminas).
  • Experience working with frontend javascript development.
  • Previous experience with database abstraction layer such as Object-Relational Mapping (ORMs), Active Record, etc.
  • Familiar with modern development tools such as Git and GitLab/GitHub.
  • A basic knowledge of automated testing tools and techniques (e.g., unit testing with PHPUnit).
  • Computer proficiency and a high level of organization with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work efficiently and independently.
  • Ability to work onsite from our facility located at 9901 Silicon Prairie Parkway in Verona, WI.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Comfortable developing in a Ubuntu/Linux environment.
  • Experience working with PHP 8 and Symfony framework 5.4+.
  • Experience with object-oriented database access tools such as Doctrine/Eloquent/Laminas DB.
  • Frontend development experience with a modern javascript framework, npm, webpack, Vue.js.
  • Familiarity with Scrum, Kanban, or other formal agile/project management methods.
  • An ability (and interest) to understand, support, and evolve legacy systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
