Position:
Site Safety Manager

Overview:


The Site Safety Manager (SSM) acts as the primary authority on safety at the job site, ensuring the implementation of best practices and protocols that effectively mitigate health risks and reduce OSHA violations.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducting safety training and education for personnel
  • Overseeing accident and safety claims as they arise
  • Investigating incidents and determining root causes
  • Managing return-to-work and modified duty processes
  • Maintaining detailed incident reports
  • Overseeing safety equipment for Hot Work, Fall Protection, and Confined Space
  • Performing thorough job site inspections
  • Developing site-specific safety plans as necessary
  • Enforcing established safety policies and procedures

Required Qualifications:
  • BSc/BA in safety management or a related field is preferred
  • 3 to 5 years of experience as a Site Safety Manager in a construction environment
  • Strong understanding of legal health and safety regulations
  • Proficient in data analysis and risk assessment
  • Exceptional organizational and motivational skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail and observational skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
  • Excellent time-management abilities
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic work environment

Work Environment:
The role involves a combination of fieldwork and office-based responsibilities. Typical working hours may vary, generally falling within standard business hours. However, in the event of safety incidents, extended hours, including weekends, may be necessary.

Fieldwork may require temporary relocation away from home, and some travel for training and continuing education may be involved.

While performing job duties, the SSM may encounter fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and various extreme conditions at construction sites.


Physical Demands:


The physical requirements outlined here are representative of those necessary for a Site Safety Manager to effectively execute the essential functions of this role.

The SSM may occasionally need to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The role requires the ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds regularly and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Specific vision capabilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.


Reporting Structure:
The SSM does not have direct reports but collaborates closely with General Foreman/Foreman in the field and reports to the Arizona Area Safety Manager.
