Job Title: Quality Assurance Manager

SOFEC, Inc. is a leading provider of Single-Point Mooring (SPM) systems and is engaged in research and development of new and improved tanker mooring systems and associated components. We are currently seeking a Quality Assurance Manager to join our team.

The Quality Assurance Manager will be responsible for directing and coordinating the quality control and quality assurance processes, integrating quality into the planning and actions of the SOFEC organization. The successful candidate will ensure synergy between quality policy and the overall business objectives, processes, and procedures.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quality assurance, with experience in oilfield equipment or other heavy industry manufacturing environments. A bachelor's degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering, environmental management, or a related field is required. The candidate should possess knowledge of Industry Standards Organization (ISO) and American Petroleum Institute (API/Q1) standards, as well as Total Quality Management skills.

The Quality Assurance Manager will be responsible for managing the quality system to comply with ISO and MODEC policies and procedures. This includes serving as the management representative for the ISO 9001 Quality System and ensuring a review of the Quality System with executive management at least once a year.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for managing overall progress toward meeting the quality objectives defined in the Quality System Management Review. This includes reporting progress toward meeting these objectives to appropriate management throughout the year.

The Quality Assurance Manager will direct the development and refinement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for SOFEC business processes and the associated Department Work Instructions (DWIs). The candidate will also manage the control, communication, and training associated with the Quality System SOPs and DWIs.

The ideal candidate will have strong supervisory skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to interface effectively with internal and external contacts. A general knowledge of budget preparation and cost controls is also required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the quality system to comply with ISO and MODEC policies and procedures.
  • Serve as the management representative for the ISO 9001 Quality System.
  • Ensure a review of the Quality System with executive management at least once a year.
  • Manage overall progress toward meeting the quality objectives defined in the Quality System Management Review.
  • Direct the development and refinement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for SOFEC business processes and the associated Department Work Instructions (DWIs).
  • Manage the control, communication, and training associated with the Quality System SOPs and DWIs.
  • Develop and assure execution of the Quality Plan, including detailed planning of quality support activities such as internal audits, facilitation of Lessons Learned, etc.
  • Ensure that systems and documents such as Quality Matrices, Engineering Specifications, and Quality Specifications, and other documents used by the business unit are controlled and maintained.
  • Initiate and lead quality process improvements.
  • Ensure that Quality System and ISO 9001 requirements are met as new tools, methods, and systems are implemented.
  • Support product standardization efforts.
  • Manage, supervise, and coordinate the QA/QC Team Members to satisfy defined project requirements.
  • Promote and demonstrate effective and efficient communications between parties involved in the project.
  • Ensure that systems and procedures are in place to manage unplanned events requiring quality support on SOFEC projects.
  • Budget and manage the third-party inspection costs on SOFEC projects.
  • Assist with supplier development and supplier performance evaluation using the Non-Conformance Report (NCR) as an evaluation tool.
  • Investigate customer complaints regarding quality and make appropriate adjustments.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering, environmental management, or a related field.
  • Ten years combined experience in engineering and manufacturing, plus experience in quality assurance.
  • Five years quality management experience in oilfield equipment or other heavy industry manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of Industry Standards Organization (ISO) and American Petroleum Institute (API/Q1) standards.
  • Total Quality Management skills.
  • Strong supervisory skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to interface effectively with internal and external contacts.
  • General knowledge of budget preparation and cost controls.
