Position Overview
The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Fitness and Recreation department is dedicated to promoting health and wellness across the campus through engaging fitness programs and community activities. The Recreational Sports division plays a crucial role in this mission by delivering exceptional service while ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for all participants in recreational programs and leagues.
We are seeking enthusiastic, energetic, and personable individuals to join our team. This part-time role offers a flexible schedule, averaging between 8 to 16 hours per week, with access to a variety of fitness classes, equipment, and facilities as part of your employment benefits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver engaging recreational sports classes.
- Maintain accurate administrative records and assist with promotional activities.
- Exhibit outstanding customer service skills.
- Participate in staff meetings and mandatory training sessions.
- Contribute to the evaluation of class effectiveness and personal performance.
- Stay updated with industry standards as directed by the supervisor.
- Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and adherence to facility regulations.
Required Qualifications:
- Certification or relevant professional experience in the applicable recreational sports program.
- American Red Cross First Aid and CPR Training Certification (to be obtained within 6 months of hire).
- Familiarity with program activity practices and procedures.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with active listening and critical thinking abilities.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and reasoning skills.
- Client-focused mindset with an entrepreneurial spirit and creative problem-solving skills.
- Basic proficiency in relevant computer applications.
- Understanding of campus policies and procedures.
- Successful completion of FBI and DOJ Criminal Background Check.
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least one year of experience as an instructor in the specified recreational sports program.
