Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Accountant to manage and analyze cost data, ensuring accurate financial reporting and efficient cost control within our organization.

The ideal candidate will play a key role in helping the company understand its production costs and identify opportunities for cost-saving measures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Cost Analysis & Reporting:
    • Calculate manufacturing job costs and enter those costs into accounting software to be applied to individual jobs.
    • Monitor and analyze cost variations across manufacturing, production, and other departments.
    • Prepare cost reports, including profit margins, and provide insights to support decision-making.
    • Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided to determine the effects on costs.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting:
    • Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts, including cost estimates for production processes.
    • Compare actual production costs to estimated costs and suggest cost-reducing methods.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Maintain and reconcile inventory accounts to ensure accuracy in the valuation of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
    • Perform physical inventory counts and investigate variances to resolve discrepancies.
  • Cost Accounting Systems:
    • Maintain and enhance the cost accounting system and ensure that it is correctly applied to all relevant processes.
    • Implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial information.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
    • Work closely with production and operations teams to monitor production efficiencies, waste, and costs.
    • Collaborate with the finance team to ensure that all accounting policies and procedures are compliant with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Audit & Compliance:
    • Support internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation and reports.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant financial and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in cost accounting, financial analysis, or related roles in manufacturing or production environments.
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and inventory management.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with cross-functional teams.
