Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Technician to join our team at the Louisiana Department of State Civil Service. As a Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for performing a variety of laboratory tasks, including preparing laboratory specimens, operating laboratory equipment, and maintaining accurate records.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare laboratory specimens for diagnostic evaluation
  • Operate laboratory equipment, including pH meters and balances
  • Maintain accurate records of laboratory results and procedures
  • Perform veni-puncture and other laboratory procedures as needed
  • Collaborate with other laboratory personnel to ensure accurate and timely results
Requirements
  • Two years of experience as a laboratory assistant, laboratory technical assistant, laboratory technician, or blood bank phlebotomist
  • Completion of a twelve-month training program in histological techniques under the supervision of a qualified pathologist
  • Satisfactory completion of a one-year program in medical laboratory technology at an accredited vocational-technical school
  • College training in a specialized field, such as laboratory animal technology, laboratory animal science, animal science, biology, microbiology, chemistry, nursing, zoology, agricultural sciences, physics, bacteriology, histological techniques, medical technology, immunology, urology, or renewable resources
