Job Summary

This position is responsible for preparing and serving food according to the facility menu. The ideal candidate will assist in ensuring proper receiving, storage, preparation, serving, sanitation, and cleaning procedures are followed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare food by methods that conserve nutritive value, flavor, and palatability.
  • Prepare, portion, and/or serve food using proper measuring equipment and serving utensils, while maintaining quality.
  • Ensure all food items are handled properly to meet safety and sanitation standards, according to State and Federal regulations.
  • Clean and sanitize equipment and food preparation area using the appropriate cleaning methods, and following established procedures and cleaning schedules.
  • Practice safety, infection control, and emergency procedures according to facility guidelines.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Food Handler's Certification.
  • Medically cleared for communicable diseases and up-to-date immunizations.
  • Valid Class C - California Driver's License.
Work Environment

This position is typically situated indoors. Hazards typical to an institutional kitchen include hot water, sharp objects, electrical equipment, wet floors, and frequent exposure to warm temperatures. Cleaning supplies may be potentially hazardous during handling, so necessary precautions should be taken. Moderate to heavy physical conditions are required.
