POSITION SUMMARY: This role is pivotal in ensuring that the products, packaging, and processes adhere to the highest quality and food safety standards within the beverage base blending and packaging operations. Reporting directly to the Quality & Food Safety Manager, the specialist will engage in quality auditing tasks that involve testing, data collection, and analysis of raw materials, in-process, and finished products.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct thorough analyses of incoming ingredients, in-process, and finished products based on established specifications (e.g., Brix, acidity, flavor profile, color, pulp content, taste, oil content, ascorbic acid levels, and foreign material detection).
  • Oversee and inspect production lines to confirm that quality and packaging integrity meet specifications.
  • Validate the accuracy of product codes, labels, cases, cartons, packages, sleeves, seals, and shrink-wrap.
  • Monitor fill temperatures, weights, and heights of finished products.
  • Execute comprehensive package quality inspections as required.
  • Collect samples for quality testing and perform microbiological analyses on incoming ingredients and finished products.
  • Complete all necessary documentation related to quality checks and maintain accurate daily reports.
  • Manage raw materials and finished products, placing them on hold as necessary.
  • Supervise the sorting of held products as needed and monitor all quality checks conducted by production staff.
  • Ensure the maintenance and calibration of analytical equipment.
  • Prepare standard solutions and reagents while adhering to proper chemical handling protocols.
  • Oversee laboratory supply inventory and notify management when reordering is necessary.
  • Monitor sanitation activities and analyze cleaning solutions.
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment and work areas to comply with all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Assist blending operations as directed by supervisors or team leaders.
  • Uphold compliance with all company policies and procedures, including safety and GMP regulations.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives and perform other related duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in a food production environment is preferred.
  • A high school diploma or GED is required; additional education or laboratory experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding instructions in English.
  • Ability to work various shifts, including eight-hour and twelve-hour schedules, with potential overtime as needed.
  • Capacity to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks at a laboratory bench.
  • Ability to detect color changes in chemical testing.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Strong judgment skills for making timely and sound decisions.
  • Ability to think conceptually and strategically while delivering measurable results as a hands-on contributor.
