POSITION SUMMARY: This role is essential in ensuring that the standards for product quality, packaging, and processes align with food safety regulations at our beverage base blending and packaging facility. Reporting directly to the Quality & Food Safety Manager, the Quality Control Specialist will engage in quality auditing through testing, data collection, and analysis of raw materials, in-process items, and finished products.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Evaluate incoming ingredients, in-process, and finished products against established specifications (e.g., Brix, acidity, flavor, color, pulp, taste, oil content, ascorbic acid, foreign materials).
- Oversee production lines to confirm that quality and packaging integrity meet required standards.
- Ensure accuracy of product codes, labels, and packaging materials.
- Monitor fill temperatures, weights, and heights of finished products.
- Conduct thorough package quality inspections as necessary.
- Collect samples for quality analysis.
- Perform microbiological assessments on incoming ingredients and final products.
- Complete all necessary documentation related to quality evaluations.
- Maintain daily reports and organize quality and production paperwork.
- Manage raw materials and finished products on hold as needed.
- Supervise sorting of held products as required.
- Oversee quality checks executed by production staff.
- Maintain and calibrate analytical equipment as per daily requirements.
- Prepare standard solutions and reagents while adhering to proper chemical handling protocols.
- Monitor laboratory supply inventory and notify when reordering is needed.
- Inspect sanitation practices and analyze cleaning solutions.
- Ensure cleanliness of equipment and work areas to comply with GMP standards.
- Assist blending operations as directed by supervisors.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including safety and GMP compliance.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in a food production environment is preferred.
- A high school diploma or GED is required; additional education or laboratory experience is a plus.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding English instructions.
- Ability to work various shifts, including overtime as needed.
- Capability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Ability to discern color changes in chemical tests.
- Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Strong multitasking skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Good judgment and decision-making skills.
- Ability to think strategically while delivering measurable results.
