We are currently seeking a **Functional Safety Specialist** to join our distinguished team.

This role requires expertise in implementing functional safety principles in accordance with ISO 26262 and other relevant standards, providing insightful and practical guidance to a diverse clientele, including emerging companies.

Projects will span various vehicle domains, necessitating different levels of autonomy, and may range from short training sessions to extensive multi-year projects.

Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate closely with the existing electrical and electronic development teams (systems, hardware, embedded software, integration) to achieve successful outcomes through a robust and consistent process compliant with ISO 26262.
Conduct audits and technical assessments of safety-related products.
Work independently across multiple vehicle domains, from semiconductor design to system and vehicle design, with support from a team of experts when needed.
Design and deliver training programs on functional safety at various levels.
Manage the functional (including safety) requirements documentation.
Assess architectures for functional safety compliance and provide guidance to address any deficiencies.
Perform specific safety analyses (including H&R, FMEA, FMEDA, DFA, and quantitative FTA) using tools such as Reliability Workbench and Ansys Medini.
Develop functional safety plans and safety case arguments/evidence.

Support Business Development:

Promote HORIBA's expertise to potential clients and create technical proposals in response to customer inquiries, detailing the proposed technical approach and estimated resources/costs.


Desired Qualifications:
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in electrical/electronic engineering, systems engineering, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
Over 7 years of experience in systems engineering, embedded software (firmware development), and hardware electronics development for safety-critical systems.
At least 5 years of experience applying functional safety principles to automotive systems, ideally in a safety manager role or leading a small team.
Experience with specialized development and safety analysis tools such as Isograph Reliability Workbench, Jama/DOORS, Enterprise Architect/Rhapsody, and Ansys Medini is advantageous.
Strong communication skills to convey technical direction to senior customer engineers and executives in both written and verbal formats, instilling confidence in the quality of HORIBA's work.
Ability to work independently or lead a team, executing assigned tasks accurately and within established timelines and budgets.
Possess well-developed analytical skills, demonstrating a rigorous yet pragmatic approach, with the ability to justify decisions with sound reasoning.
