The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Orientation Instructor to join our team. As an Orientation Instructor, you will play a critical role in orienting clients referred to the Adult Education Program through the Reception and Placement refugee resettlement program and other asylum, parole, and special immigrant pathways.
Job Summary:The Orientation Instructor is responsible for delivering cultural orientation (CO) programming to eligible adults, guiding them through the enrollment process, and providing ongoing program participation. This is a part-time, 18.75 hours per week position, reporting to the Adult Education Instructional Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities:- Deliver CO programming, planning and preparing orientations following organizational guidelines and federal learning objectives.
- Orient and conference with current and potential students, assisting students in completing necessary intake and enrollment forms.
- Administer English language assessments to measure and track student progress and gains.
- Assist with record-keeping and data entry to support program administration and compliance with programmatic requirements.
- Maintain a positive learning environment, facilitating student learning activities that build cultural and community knowledge.
- Communicate effectively with adult education team members, reporting regularly on program goals, client attendance, and student progress.
- Bachelor's degree (4-year) required.
- Completion of a certificate program in Adult Education, TEFL, TESL, and/or TESOL is preferred.
- Relevant professional experience in education and/or human services strongly preferred.
- Experience working with immigrants or refugees preferred.
This is a standard office work position with in-person and virtual delivery of orientations, meetings, and class sessions. The work schedule will oversee day-time orientations.
