Job Title: Business Intelligence Data Warehouse Developer

We are seeking a skilled Business Intelligence Data Warehouse Developer to join our team at Churchill Downs Incorporated. As a key member of our BI team, you will design, implement, and maintain our data warehouse and front-end reporting systems, providing users with access to pre-designed reports and self-serve analysis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Build and maintain ETL and Data Warehouse objects, including SSIS, Transactional Replication/CDC, SQL Procedures, MicroStrategy semantic model, SSAS, MDS/DQS, BIML, and PowerShell scripts.
  • Contribute to the design and optimization of our data layer as the company's single layer of truth.
  • Translate business requirements into detailed, production-level technical specifications.
  • Contribute to our ETL framework by learning our current capabilities and leveraging your unique insights and experience.
  • Modify existing reports and/or develop new reports by analyzing databases, data sources, and structures for the benefit of users.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • Strong experience using SQL, including complex stored procedures, common table expressions, analytic functions, query optimization, and indexing.
  • Five years of experience working with data warehouses; Microsoft SQL Server strongly preferred.
  • Three years of experience designing, implementing, and maintaining normalized, operational data store, and dimensionally modeled database systems.
  • Two years of experience designing and developing Extraction, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes, Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) strongly preferred.
  • Three years of experience with object-oriented languages; preference with C#, PowerShell, or Python.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience using agile/scrum methodologies to iterate quickly on product changes, developing user stories, and working through backlogs.
  • Experience with MicroStrategy or other Business Intelligence tools.
  • Experience working with multi-terabyte data sets.
  • Experience designing and building enterprise conceptual or logical data models.
  • Working knowledge of data management and data warehousing technologies related to data modeling, database administration, and performance tuning, archiving, and disaster recovery.
  • Ability to effectively communicate at different levels in and across the organization and to articulate to non-technical audiences the advantages and disadvantages of using various technologies and standards.
