Electrical Commissioning Engineer Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Commissioning Engineer to join our team at Actalent. As an Electrical Commissioning Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that electrical systems in complex facilities and mission-critical projects are properly commissioned and functioning as intended.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement commissioning plans and procedures for electrical systems
  • Conduct pre-start-up procedures, develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and methods of procedures (MOPs), and create comprehensive commissioning documentation
  • Prepare commissioning test procedures and reports, and develop and maintain commissioning logs, equipment checklists, and other tools to track commissioning projects
  • Write comprehensive reports that include recommendations for optimizing building operations, functional checklists, lists of deficiencies, equipment operation and maintenance manuals, and review design criteria, specifications, drawings, equipment submittals, and other documentation pertinent to commissioning
  • Develop and administer functional tests for various systems, such as electrical distribution systems, switchboards, UPS, PDUs, STS, and standby generators, etc.
  • Verify results of test reports, assist with field troubleshooting of commissioned equipment as needed, and field experience in operation and application of Power Quality Analyzers, Power Disturbance Analyzers, Data loggers, and related system testing equipment
  • Integrated system testing, load bank testing, and compilation of all testing procedure results
Requirements:
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in the Electrical Mission Critical Field
  • Bachelor's/Associates Degree as an Electrical Engineer a plus
  • A/E experience working in complex facilities or mission-critical projects a big plus
  • Good communication skills, interface with clients, contractors, equipment vendors, and owners' agents as needed
  • Experience with IEEE procedures and protocols a plus
  • Possess basic knowledge of system design
  • Commissioning certification or PE
Work Environment:

60-65% travel throughout the year, with assignments sometimes requiring 2-3 weeks on-site before traveling again.
