POSITION SUMMARY:

The Heavy Equipment Maintenance Technician is crucial in ensuring the reliability and safety of our fleet, which includes trucks and various construction machinery. Responsibilities encompass a range of equipment such as loaders, dozers, excavators, scrapers, backhoes, articulated haul trucks, and other support machinery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct routine inspections and maintain detailed records of inspections and repairs.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and execute tests following repairs or maintenance tasks.
  • Monitor drive systems including sprockets, rails, idlers, track adjusters, final drives, brake bands, steering clutches, and hydrostatic transmissions.
  • Fabricate, modify, and install new or used equipment and replacement components using welding and cutting tools.
  • Diagnose issues, disassemble units, repair or replace parts, and reassemble units across various systems including brakes, cooling, electrical, exhaust, heating/air conditioning, and hydraulics.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

All work must adhere to YBP Safety policies. The role involves both indoor and outdoor work, subject to varying weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, dust, and wind. The technician must be capable of operating different types of heavy machinery.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Physical demands include walking, sitting, bending, stooping, and lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Employment Type: Full-Time

Classification: Non-Exempt

Supervisory Role: Non-Supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of three years of experience with diesel trucks and heavy machinery.
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • Proficient knowledge in overhauling diesel engines, brake servicing, equipment maintenance, electrical systems, and troubleshooting.
  • Willingness to work overtime as required.
  • Ability to independently and quickly resolve mechanical issues.
