Key Responsibilities
Summary of Role
Oversee the reception, storage, and distribution of materials, ensuring precision and promptness. Monitor stock levels and conduct regular inventory audits to maintain accurate records. Implement and uphold effective inventory management protocols, including cycle counts and stock rotation.
Essential Duties:
- Manage daily material requirements for the manufacturing facility, including raw materials, machinery, equipment, parts, tools, supplies, and services using optimal procurement practices.
- Develop and enhance vendor relationships to align with company objectives, including performance monitoring, feedback provision, and trend analysis; collaborate with site teams to negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers and resolve any issues effectively.
- Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to establish specifications for equipment, products, or alternative materials; review and assess specifications for bidding processes.
- Participate in contract negotiations; assist in formulating and executing contract management policies and procedures.
- Research and evaluate relevant market and delivery systems to assess current and future material availability.
- Procure materials and services from suppliers that offer the best value, considering quality, pricing, contracts, reliability, and urgency.
- Balance the inventory needs of the facility with a financially justified inventory approach.
- Supervise and provide leadership for the spare parts room, managing one direct report.
Skills and Abilities:
- Experience managing budgets and negotiations exceeding $5 million.
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Ability to lead a department independently and exercise sound judgment.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Capability to conceive and manage small projects.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
- Strong negotiation skills with a high level of interpersonal acumen to handle sensitive situations.
- 3-5 years of experience in procurement; adept at thriving in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, accounting, business, or a related field is preferred.
- CPSM or C.P.M certification is preferred; a demonstrated commitment to the profession is required.
