Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct clinical laboratory tests and scientific assessments.
- Exhibit proficiency in applying technical principles and methodologies in medical technology.
- Ensure prompt and accurate test performance, including documentation and notification of abnormal results.
- Prepare and evaluate new reagents or controls based on established criteria.
- Perform test calibrations and manage Quality Control materials at designated intervals.
- Assess specimen acceptability according to testing procedures.
- Utilize manual or computerized methods to determine calculated results.
- Accurately document testing results and monitor laboratory reporting accuracy.
- Evaluate routine analysis before releasing patient reports and respond to critical values appropriately.
- Conduct preventative maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment, documenting actions taken.
- Perform checks on instrument performance and conduct necessary evaluations.
- Engage in Quality Control and calibrations, reporting any shifts or trends to supervisory staff.
- Participate in staff and Quality Improvement meetings as required.
- Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment.
- Comply with health and safety regulations, utilizing personal protective equipment as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the laboratory.
Qualifications:
Required Experience:
- Zero to three years of experience in a laboratory environment.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry objects within specified weight ranges.
- Capability to perform repetitive tasks and maintain good eye-hand coordination.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree (Required)
Licenses/Certifications:
Current State Clinical Laboratory Scientist license if applicable (Required)
