Histotechnician I

We are seeking a skilled Histotechnician I to join our team at Quest Diagnostics. As a Histotechnician I, you will play a critical role in preparing slides for microscopic evaluation by pathologists.

• Process paperwork associated with accessioning and reporting.
• Ensure proper tissue processing.
• Perform embedding and microtomy for select specimen types under general supervision.
• Prepare slides for routine Hematoxylin and Eosin staining.
• Perform coverslipping of stained slides either manually or automated.
• Perform special stains under approval of/at discretion of Histology Manager/Supervisor.
• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of non-complex equipment.
• Perform filing of finished blocks and slides.
• Adhere to laboratory's quality control policies, and document all quality control activities.
• Ensure all corporate safety, quality control and quality assurance standards are met.
• Ensure compliance with all local, federal, CLIA and CAP regulations.
• Maintain a clean and well-organized work area.

• One year of experience within the last 10 years.
• Preferred Work Experience: 5 years full-time acceptable experience as a Histotechnician within the last 10 years.
• Basic knowledge of histology.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required).
• HT (ASCP) certification and/or meet state licensure requirements.
