The Academy Charter Schools is seeking a dedicated and passionate Elementary Teacher to join our team. As a key member of our educational community, you will play a vital role in shaping the minds of our students and helping them achieve their full potential.

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Elementary Teacher to provide direct special education services to students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). The successful candidate will work collaboratively with teachers, principals, specialists, parents, and CSEs to develop, implement, and monitor IEPs. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and compassionate educator to make a meaningful impact on the lives of our students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct special education services to students with IEPs, addressing their unique educational needs and promoting academic progress.
  • Collaborate with teachers, principals, specialists, parents, and CSEs to develop, implement, and monitor IEPs, ensuring a cohesive and effective educational experience for all students.
  • Assume personal responsibility for the academic progress of all students, providing individualized support and guidance to help them achieve their goals.
  • Implement a research-based curriculum, differentiating lesson plans to meet the diverse needs of students with IEPs in an inclusion setting.
  • Document all lesson plans, assignments, rubrics, and other instructional materials and methods, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Use technology tools for instruction, planning, and communication, promoting student engagement and motivation.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, colleagues, and administrators, building strong relationships and fostering a positive school culture.
  • Establish, involve, and assist students in the development, maintenance, and evaluation of portfolios, promoting self-reflection and goal-setting.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of childhood development and demonstrated experience with executing planned lessons to meet the differential needs of each student.
  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred.
  • New York State Special Education certification required.
