We are seeking a skilled Psychiatric Technician to join our team at Carilion Clinic Saint Albans Hospital. As a member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of adults and children with mental illness on our acute psychiatric hospital unit.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with observing patients and reporting any unusual circumstances to licensed nurses.
- Organize and prioritize nursing care in accordance with unit standards.
- Complete admission and discharge processes and documentation according to unit standards.
- Provide patient treatments as delegated, such as EKGs, blood glucose testing, and enemas.
- Act as a patient advocate, protector of patient rights, and provider of psychological, social, and cultural support.
- Lead daily goals and wrap-up groups, reporting any issues or concerns to licensed nurses.
- High school graduate or GED required.
- Psychiatry-related or nursing assistant experience preferred.
- Ability to handle and restrain patients who may be disruptive or physically violent.
- Willingness to learn medical terminology and clinical procedures.
- De-escalation training must be successfully completed within four months of hire.
- AHA BLS-HCP certification required.
