Our programs impart essential technical construction skills and entrepreneurial knowledge to young individuals aged 16-24 in our Job Corps initiatives, Military Services, our Academies, and programs designed for both adults and youth in correctional facilities.


GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

As a Construction Trades Educator, you will showcase—through practical training and classroom education—the essential techniques, safety protocols, and attention to detail that are vital for developing proficient trades professionals.

Exceptional coaching abilities and a passion for teaching, motivating, and guiding future trades professionals are crucial, alongside a strong commitment to workplace safety.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instruction
- Instructs program participants in trade skills utilizing approved educational materials.
- Develops curriculum and supplementary training resources as necessary.
- Organizes hands-on training sessions, including community-based projects.
- Demonstrates the correct usage of tools and equipment, emphasizing safety.

Student Development and Placement
- Aids in student recruitment, placement, and employability training as directed by program requirements.
- Monitors, mentors, and supports students.
- Cultivates positive relationships with funders, program partners, and other stakeholders.
- Engages in outreach and employer relationship building.

Classroom Management
- Conducts various administrative and reporting tasks as needed.
- Ensures the proper use, storage, and security of tools and equipment.
- Adheres to all relevant safety protocols (OSHA 10).

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal:
HBI Executive Team, HBI Board of Trustees, and staff across all levels.

External:
Community partners, vendors, contractors, and end users of systems.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Must meet Career Technical Training standards, including a High School Diploma or equivalent, and/or possess a combination of work experience, education, and skills equivalent to Journey-level expertise in relevant trades such as Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing, or HVAC.


WORKING CONDITIONS:
Typical office-type working environment; routine physical activities include walking, carrying, standing, listening, and sitting; minimal travel expected.
Home Builders Institute Inc. prioritizes the health and safety of its staff and students. All employees are encouraged to keep their vaccination statuses current, including the latest COVID vaccines and boosters. Proof of vaccination may be required for certain program locations.
