Role Summary:

The Quality Assurance Coordinator is tasked with overseeing the Quality Assurance activities within the defined legal frameworks and internal protocols to guarantee the production of superior quality products in the safest and most efficient manner. This role involves monitoring the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) program and the Food Safety program across various manufacturing sites.

Directly reporting to the Director of Quality, you will also take charge of developing specifications, managing documentation, and addressing non-conformance issues.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Report directly to the Director of Quality.
  • Coordinate quality assurance by establishing specifications, executing sampling and testing protocols, documenting outcomes, ensuring products meet specifications, and managing items placed on hold.
  • Document control: Ensure compliance of documentation with suppliers and contract manufacturers.
  • Organize all testing with both internal and external laboratories, fostering strong relationships with production facilities, managers, external labs, and consultants.
  • Conduct research on food safety, sensory quality, compliance, and regulations.
  • Collaborate with various departments to assist in resolving non-conformance issues, ensuring adherence to procedures, and actively preventing recurrence of such issues.
  • Address customer complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Work closely with production facilities to ensure NSI Standards are effectively communicated and adhered to.
  • Review product labels and manage label transitions in accordance with new regulations and certifiers.
  • Oversee the retain sample process.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science or a related field such as Microbiology or Chemistry.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Quality Assurance or Quality Control within food manufacturing settings.
  • Familiarity with USDA, FDA regulations, and food safety standards.
  • Certifications in PCQI, HACCP, and experience with GFSI Audit Scopes.
  • Prior experience in a production facility to effectively analyze and resolve issues.
  • Proficient in system skills including MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), G Suite, and ERP systems (preferably SAP Business One).
  • Able to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment with a strong team spirit.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Strong skills in relationship building, time management, and attention to detail.
  • A team player who can also work independently and take initiative.
