Job Summary

As a Physician Home Care Specialist at VITAS Healthcare, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality medical care to patients in their homes. We are seeking a skilled and compassionate physician to join our team and contribute to our mission of delivering exceptional end-of-life care.

Responsibilities
  • Provide primary medical care to patients in their homes, with a focus on palliative medicine and symptom management.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans that address the unique needs of each patient.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care coordination and communication.
  • Conduct regular assessments and evaluations to monitor patient progress and adjust care plans as needed.
  • Document patient interactions and care plans in a timely and accurate manner.

Requirements
  • Must be a member in good standing on the medical staff of an accredited hospital in the state where the hospice is located.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practice of primary medical care, with at least a working knowledge of oncology.
  • Knowledge of palliative medicine, with particular emphasis on control symptoms associated with terminal illness.
  • Registration with the Drug Enforcement Agency to write scheduled prescriptions.
  • Medical malpractice and liability insurance in amounts and with carriers satisfactory to VITAS.
