Medical Laboratory Specialist

Penn State Health is seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team in Hershey, Pennsylvania. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results, which are critical to patient care and diagnosis.
Key Responsibilities- Receive and process laboratory specimens, ensuring proper identification and handling.
- Enter orders for laboratory testing into the Lab Information System and patient demographic and insurance information into the patient registration system.
- Prepare specimens for analysis and ensure that all storage requirements are met.
- Answer telephone inquiries and provide information related to specimen requirements, test availability, and specimen testing status.
- Provide laboratory results and communicate with healthcare providers as needed.
- High School Diploma or equivalent, plus additional training or equivalent knowledge required.
- Training of up to 18 months beyond the high school level or equivalent knowledge required. Applicants trained outside of the United States must provide documentation of equivalency evaluation of their education and training to ensure it is equivalent to CLIA requirements.
- Six (6) months job-related experience preferred.
