Join a team of dedicated professionals in Stafford County, VA and take on the exciting challenge of planning and implementing recreational programs for citizens of all ages. As a Recreation Programmer I, you will be responsible for assisting with the planning and organization of these programs, as well as supervising instructors, seasonal personnel, and volunteers.

About the Role:

  • This is a part-time position that offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment and make a real difference in the community.
  • You will be responsible for preparing and maintaining records and files, as well as gathering information and making recommendations for the purchase of equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, program participants, and the general public.

What You'll Do:

  • Assist with planning and organizing recreational and related programs for citizens of all ages.
  • Supervise and instruct recreational programs.
  • Prepare and maintain records and files.
  • Assist in planning, organization, and evaluation of recreation programs for all segments, groups, and ages of the community.
  • Supervise instructors, seasonal personnel, and volunteers.
  • Gather information and make recommendations for the purchase of equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Provide information to the public regarding recreational programs.
  • Prepare reports as requested.
  • Respond to citizen and agency requests for information on recreational programs.

Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in recreation, or any combination of education, training, and/or experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • A minimum of two years of customer service experience in a recreation center setting.
  • A commitment to working a varied schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • A passion for delivering exceptional customer service and building strong relationships with the community.
