About the Role

Pennoni is a leading consulting engineering firm seeking a highly skilled Municipal Engineer to join our team. As a Staff Engineer, you will play a key role in contributing to our municipal projects, working closely with our Van Note-Harvey business to deliver exceptional results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to infrastructure planning projects, focusing on wet utilities, including design, permitting, inspection, and construction administration.
  • Develop projects and reports, as well as coordinate infrastructure design with other design disciplines.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills by coordinating projects as needed.
  • Plan and manage the preparation of construction drawings and specifications.
  • Contribute to the development of proposals and bid documents, as well as cost and pay estimates.
  • Interact with municipal officials and attend project-related meetings, including public meetings.
  • Interact with clients and regulatory agencies as needed.
  • Perform field visits as required.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering-oriented discipline, preferably Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering.
  • 4+ years of professional experience in Engineering, preferably with infrastructure or utility projects.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PE in NJ is strongly preferred; additional relevant credentials will also be considered favorably.
  • Experience working on design, permitting, and reporting activities, preferably with land review and/or utility design projects.
  • Experience working on cross-functional teams to support infrastructure or utility projects, especially with wet utilities.
  • Experience with municipal water projects, including fire flow determinations and water flow analysis.
  • Advanced understanding of public-sector contracts processes in NJ, especially at the State, County, and Municipal levels.
  • Proficiency with engineering tools, including CADD, H&H modeling, GIS, and analytical programs, especially AutoCAD Civil 3D 2019 or later.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong leadership skills and project management experience.
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision, displaying a positive attitude.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with a proven ability to work in a self-motivated manner, effectively multi-tasking and prioritizing multiple assignments.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
