Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing a team of maintenance and repair staff, ensuring the reliable operation of our civil infrastructure, including underground utilities and campus mobility infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of maintenance and repair staff, providing direction, guidance, and oversight to ensure high-quality work and excellent customer service.
  • Develop and implement effective maintenance and repair programs, including preventive maintenance and emergency response plans.
  • Manage budgets and schedules to ensure work is completed within approved budgets and timelines.
  • Ensure compliance with University, Facilities, and Governmental safety requirements, including occupational health, safety, and environmental codes and regulations.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with campus peers and partners, providing excellent customer service and communication.
Requirements
  • Minimum of five (5) years of verifiable experience in civil infrastructure construction or a related field, with progressive responsibility.
  • Strong technical knowledge of underground utility systems, including steam, condensate return, chilled water, hot water, geo-exchange, electrical, information technology infrastructure, water lines, sanitary sewers, and storm sewers.
  • Ability to effectively read, interpret, and understand technical documents, specifications, diagrams, sequences of operation, and drawings.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse audience.
  • Project management experience and a good working knowledge of project planning, scheduling, and work implementation.
  • Solid knowledge of federal, state, and local safety and regulatory codes, with the ability to research applicable codes related to specific projects, departmental processes, or initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • Prior related experience in a higher education setting.
  • Experience managing in a union environment.
