Assistant Director of Nursing

USPI NORTH HOUSTON ENDOSCOPY is seeking a motivated and experienced Assistant Director of Nursing to join our team.
Job Summary:The Assistant Director of Nursing will be responsible for leading nursing operations in the facility, ensuring high-quality patient care, and promoting a positive work environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Evaluate nursing activities to ensure patient care, staff relations, and efficiency of service.
- Ensure that nursing care is carried out as directed, and treatment is administered in accordance with physician instructions.
- Direct the hiring, selection, performance review, and training of medical personnel.
- Direct the preparation and maintenance of patient clinical records.
- Order or direct the ordering of supplies, including drugs, solutions, equipment, and maintain records on narcotics.
- Initiate safe practices and be knowledgeable about current facility policies and procedures.
- Ensure the appropriate inventory levels of medical supplies, instrumentation, and equipment are maintained at the facility to meet organizational goals, JCAHO, and Medical standards.
- Ensure that the facility is properly staffed on a daily basis to meet organizational, JCAHO, Medicare, and community standards.
- Ensure efficient scheduling of surgical procedures and availability of personnel, supplies, instrumentation, and equipment.
- Ensure that Standard Universal Precautions and the principles of aseptic and sterile technique are used appropriately.
- Implement safe practices and provide knowledgeable guidance and evaluation of environment of care management, including life safety, security, hazardous materials, and waste management, emergency preparedness, infection control, and the safe use of medical equipment and utilities.
- Provide assessment of physiologic, mental, and psychosocial health status of patients.
- Participate in patient/family discharge teaching for children, adults, and geriatric patients.
- Ensure compliance of the facility with State licensure, Medicare certification, and Joint Commission accreditation standards.
The Assistant Director of Nursing will manage all clinical personnel and direct the scheduler, ensuring a direct line of communication between staff, patients, and physicians on a daily basis.
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policy and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
Requirements:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university, plus one to two (1-2) years related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to interpret and teach based on professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Current valid State of Texas nursing license.
Maintain designated certifications, such as CPR and ACLS, as offered by the facility.
