Product Development Engineer II

We are seeking a highly skilled Product Development Engineer II to join our Design Engineering team at Southern States, LLC. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing new products and providing support for existing high-voltage interrupters, mechanisms, and control systems.
About the Role
This is a key position that requires strong technical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering principles and experience with product development lifecycle management.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test new high-voltage interrupters, mechanisms, and control systems based on project specifications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Manufacturing, Marketing, Sales, and After-sales, to resolve problems, ensure quality, and improve product performance.
- Develop detailed design drawings and specifications using Solidworks.
- Conduct quality and type tests, and document results.
- Write assembly instructions, user manuals, and other quality documents.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field of study.
- At least 7 years of experience in product development, with a focus on high-voltage interrupters, mechanisms, and control systems.
- Excellent knowledge of AutoCAD/SolidWorks and other relevant design software.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- A willingness to travel occasionally (up to 10% of the time) to customer sites and test labs.
Compensation
The estimated annual salary for this role is $120,000-$150,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
