Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Network Engineer to join our team at Encore Boston Harbor. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering, coordinating, and implementing a wireless network at a remote site/new office in the Boston area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deploy and configure network infrastructure, including switches and routers
  • Implement and support Avaya Network (now Extreme) gear
  • Manage and provision Palo Alto configuration and firewall rule crafting
  • Work with the IT team to achieve strategic, long-range goals
  • Manage the administration, maintenance, and security of the network infrastructure
  • Direct the configuration and setup of all new network equipment
  • Manage firewall administration and overall internal network security
  • Provide basic operational support for internal team member computer systems
  • Identify inadequacies, inefficiencies, and problems and recommend solutions
  • Develop system specifications and implement system changes through automation, process change, and training
  • Conduct diagnostic investigations of network equipment errors and implement or recommend solutions or methodologies for resolution
  • Develop Requests for Proposals (RFP) and negotiate and manage vendor contracts for Information Technology services
  • Prepare various documentation, including project reports, process and user manuals, presentations, strategic and technical plans, and other related information on assigned application analyses
  • Create and update system documentation and network diagrams
  • Consult with vendors regarding system functionality, setup, and maintenance
Requirements
  • High school or equivalent degree required; Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field and minimum 6 years equivalent hands-on experience preferred
  • General computer skills and basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and Visio required
  • Outstanding organizational, interpersonal, and administrative skills, as well as excellent attention to detail, required
  • Certification and/or experience with Avaya Networking and PBX, Palo Alto firewalls, Juniper routers, VMWare NSX, and Extreme Wing wireless a plus
  • Thorough understanding of TCP/IP, tcpdump, wireshark, routing, and routed protocols required
  • Experience implementing and configuring Extreme Network gear required; Extreme Networks ECS Certification desired
  • Knowledge of EAPoL protocol and configuration required
