Job Overview:

The UNIX Operations team is in search of a candidate with extensive experience in LINUX (specifically Red Hat). The ideal applicant will possess over 6 years of systems administration expertise, coupled with a solid understanding of physical infrastructure and hardware. This role involves providing LINUX support for a significant number of servers. We value effective communication and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and manage RHEL Linux 8/7, including patch management.
  • Execute Linux server builds and custom configurations.
  • Optimize performance for Oracle database servers.
  • Manage server security vulnerabilities.
  • Utilize SolarWinds for monitoring purposes.
  • Oversee Ansible tower management and upgrades.
  • Apply VMware operational knowledge.
  • Implement automation strategies.
  • Facilitate server migrations.
  • Employ troubleshooting techniques effectively.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge in TCP/IP networking and network topology.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Customize system settings to meet application-specific requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with the technology roadmap, including OS and hardware upgrades.
  • Address incident tickets promptly and efficiently.
  • Remediate security vulnerabilities as identified by audits.
  • Conduct regular patching of RedHat systems to maintain compliance.
  • Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders across the organization.
  • Participate in a rotating on-call support schedule.
  • Document all work and processes.
  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux operating systems and associated software.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure reliability.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to design and implement Linux-based solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of storage management.
  • Familiarity with database administration.
  • Understanding of Windows administration.
  • Experience with cloud integration.
  • Basic knowledge of Veritas NetBackup management.
  • Awareness of applications such as JBoss, WebSphere, and Splunk.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
