Job Summary

This position is an exciting opportunity to join the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration team as a Licensed Practical Nurse. As a LPN, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care to our nation's veterans.

Responsibilities
  • Provide safe and individualized nursing care to patients in the Community Living Center.
  • Interact, collaborate, and communicate effectively with veterans, families, caregivers, professionals, and other supportive staff.
  • Initiate appropriate actions based on observations of the patient's condition.
  • Perform duties under the general supervision of a RN or Healthcare Provider (HCP).
  • Demonstrate proficiency in initiating, performing, and completing assigned duties while providing care to diverse patient populations.
  • Knowledge and skill to care for a wide range of patients with chronically ill and acutely ill conditions.
  • Comprehensive understanding of disease conditions, nursing principles, standards, and practices to coordinate the nursing care required on the unit.
  • Maintain knowledge and ability to carry out patient care determined by the patient's condition.
  • Recognize, report, and record relevant patient information, including urgent and emergent situations.
  • Establish constructive and positive relationships with patients/families to promote open communication and socialization skills.
  • Respect patient/family rights to privacy and dignity in all aspects of care delivery.
  • Serve as a preceptor in orienting, educating, and training less experienced LPNs, Nursing Assistants (NA's), Health Technicians (HT's).
  • Actively seek out educational opportunities to enhance nursing knowledge/skills and share knowledge with peers to advance nursing practice.
Requirements
  • Citizen of the United States.
  • Graduate of a school of practical or vocational nursing approved by the appropriate State agency and/or accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC).
  • Full, active, current, and unrestricted licensure as a licensed practical or vocational nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or District of Columbia.
  • English Language Proficiency.
  • Grade Determinations: GS-3, GS-4, GS-5, GS-6.

Multiple tours, including evening and/or days, weekends with rotation.
