Job Summary

Green Dot Public Schools is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Special Education Aide to join our team. As a Special Education Aide, you will play a critical role in supporting students with diverse learning needs and providing instructional support to teachers and specialists.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide instructional support to students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) or Section 504 Service Plans (SPs) in a general education classroom setting.
  • Assist teachers and specialists in implementing instructional programs and providing specialized services to students.
  • Tutor or drill students individually or in groups, following lesson plans and designated IEPs or SPs in various academic subjects.
  • Provide assistance to students in operating assistive technology or communication devices, microcomputers, and learning activities associated with computer-assisted instruction.
  • Administer first aid or necessary physical assistance to ill or distressed students, and provide toileting support or hand-over-hand instruction as needed.
  • Support student supervision during transport from school to home or home to school, and participate in parent conferences or IEP meetings as directed by teachers or specialists.
  • Correct student work, operate office machines and instructional equipment, and perform various classroom-associated clerical tasks.
  • Prepare teaching aids and materials, assist in classroom organizing activities, and observe and report significant student behavior or problems to teachers or specialists.
Requirements
  • Possess a high school diploma (or equivalent) and one of the following: completion of at least two years of college (48 units), attainment of an AA (or higher) degree, or pass a local assessment of knowledge and skills in assisting in instruction.
  • Have at least six months of experience working with adolescents/children in a structured environment, preferably in a specialized learning environment.
  • Be able to lift 60 lbs, and be dependable, humble, and have a sense of humor and a rock-solid commitment to Green Dot's mission and the communities we serve.
  • Pass a TB test and background check at time of offer, and be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
