Electrical Engineer Job Description

Kleinfelder is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team in Concord, CA. As an Electrical Engineer with Kleinfelder, you will be responsible for designing and analyzing electrical power systems, including high voltage transmission and distribution systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and analyze electrical power systems, including high voltage transmission and distribution systems
  • Perform calculations, including electric loads, pole loading, voltage drop, voltage rise, flicker, and pulling tension
  • Develop asset data integrity strategy, including processes for data capture and validation
  • Perform asset investigation, create electric components list, and capture required asset information
  • Acquire and analyze data using appropriate standard quantitative methods
  • Provide technical guidance to team members on electrical engineering test methods
  • Develop status reports with task completion, progress, challenges, and solutions
  • Coordinate with internal teams on design and value engineering input, in preparation for permitting and interconnection
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience
  • Familiarity with electric distribution systems, including layout, conductor sizing, transformer selection, and meter selection
  • Familiarity with instrumentation and controls design for remote control, feedback, and automation (preferred)
  • Utility business understanding (preferred)
  • Engineer-In-Training Certification (required)
  • Professional Engineer License (required, or ability to obtain)
  • Working knowledge of CAD and GIS software (desired)
  • Familiarity with the National Electric Code (NED), electrical power transmission and distribution systems (desired)
