We are seeking a highly skilled Procurement and Contract Specialist to join our team at the Texas Education Agency.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to work in a dynamic environment, providing legal support to the agency's Contracts and Purchasing Division and other agency divisions. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing, drafting, revising and negotiating contractual provisions, as well as researching applicable statutes, rules and regulations.

As a Procurement and Contract Specialist, you will have the opportunity to work closely with senior counsel and other stakeholders to provide expert advice on contract formation and interpretation, ensuring that contracts are legally sound and meet the needs of the agency. You will also be responsible for representing the agency during contract negotiations and providing guidance on procurement policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legal support to the agency's Contracts and Purchasing Division and other agency divisions
  • Review, draft, revise and negotiate contractual provisions
  • Research applicable statutes, rules and regulations
  • Represent the agency during contract negotiations
  • Provide guidance on procurement policies and procedures
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong understanding of contract law and procurement procedures, as well as excellent communication and negotiation skills. You will also need to be able to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of integrity and discretion.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience as an attorney, preferably with experience in contract formation and interpretation. You will also need to be a member in good standing with the State Bar of Texas and have a certificate of good standing from the State Bar of Texas.

What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary range of $60,730 - $80,730 per year, based on experience. Additionally, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental and vision insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid time off.
