Job Title: Technologist I

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Technologist I to perform data entry and processing of patient samples, consistent with regulatory requirements and written Standard Operating Procedures. This position requires an acute attention to detail and a strong understanding of laboratory procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Receipt and entry of sample-related data into the database.
  • Isolation of DNA on multiple samples using robotic instruments.
  • Responsible for the QC, maintenance, and troubleshooting of DNA isolation and plating equipment.
  • Preparation of labels for study subjects.
  • Quantification of DNA and upload of information into the database.
  • Responsible for QC, maintenance, and troubleshooting of DNA quantification equipment.
  • Maintenance of inventory of study samples, including labeling and filing of boxes.
  • Maintenance of technical records.
  • Reconciliation of sample discrepancies in the database.
  • Maintenance of inventory and autoclave of lab disposables.
  • Recording of QC on refrigerators or freezers as requested.
  • Participation as a member of the Bleeding Disorders Lab and Bloodworks teams, promoting collaboration and effective communication.
  • Compliance with all applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) as written.
Requirements:
  • Qualification as Testing Personnel, High Complexity Testing under CLIA personnel requirements.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in clinical laboratory science or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of related laboratory experience.

  • Problem-solving and detail-oriented skills.
  • Manual dexterity to operate various instruments and perform data entry quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Knowledge of Excel and Word software applications.
  • Knowledge of basic laboratory procedures, including PCR, pipetting, dilutions, and making buffers.
  • Ability to safely work with biohazardous materials.
Working Conditions:
  • This is a highly regulated position, subject to meeting various regulatory agency and accrediting body rules and regulations.
  • Ability to work scheduled hours and arrive to work in a timely manner.
  • Direct exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
