Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Underwriter, Private Commercial Risk Management Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Private Commercial Division, you will be responsible for actively participating in the production underwriting, marketing, and processing of Private Commercial lines of business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Underwrite and analyze new business and renewal submissions for our Private Commercial line of business, ensuring accurate and timely decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with retail and wholesale brokers, ensuring consistent communication of our products and services.
  • Further develop existing broker relations and establish new relationships in targeted territories to attract business opportunities.
  • Actively participate in client and broker meetings, providing expert guidance and support.
  • Develop and maintain a submission pipeline sufficient to achieve overall production and business mix objectives.
  • Utilize market contacts to bring in business, gather and share market intelligence, and cross-sell Argo Pro and other Argo Group products.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited university is required.
  • A relentless desire to continually update your skill level through continuing education and self-development.
  • Previous insurance educational work, IIA, and CPCU designations are strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of five years underwriting experience with authority, excess, and surplus lines.
  • A genuine excitement to meet and exceed our customers' expectations on each and every interaction.
  • Demonstrated robust and productive relationships with professional liability specialist brokers in the Central U.S. marketplace.
  • Demonstrated strong negotiation skills, achieving favorable outcomes in win-win negotiations.
  • Flexibility and the ability to thrive in change are essential for success in this role.
  • A strong focus on execution, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Excellent ability to collect, gather, manipulate, and analyze information in detail to draw conclusions on how to underwrite an account profitably.
  • Advanced knowledge of computer programs, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Ability to travel approximately 20% of the time.
