Job Summary

The Assistant Manager will be responsible for assisting in the oversight of gym operations to ensure an exceptional member experience as well as a financially successful club.

Key Responsibilities
  • Staff Management: Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, and developing a high-performing staff consisting of Member Service Representatives, Trainers, and Custodians.
  • Customer Service: Assist in maintaining a welcoming atmosphere for all members, prospective members, and guests, and ensuring staff follows superior customer service guidelines.
  • Operations Support: Assist with staff management and provide backup support to the Club Manager as needed.
    • Scheduling and Supervision: Assist in scheduling and supervising staff.
    • Member Service Oversight: Ensure staff is providing a superior customer experience at all times.
    • Employee Issues: Assist in resolving or escalating employee issues or concerns.
  • Front Desk Activities: Involved in all front desk-related activities, including:
    • Phone and Member Support: Answer phones in a friendly manner and assist callers with a variety of questions.
    • Member Check-in: Check members into the system.
    • New Member Sign-up: New member sign-up.
    • Tours: Take prospective members on tours.
    • Member Requests: Facilitate all member requests, issues, and questions.
  • Cleanliness and Maintenance: Assist in overseeing cleanliness and maintenance of the facility.
  • Supply Ordering: Assist in ordering of supplies using specific budgets based on club requirements.
  • Statistics and Reports: Assist in tracking statistics and reports (weekly, monthly, and annually).
  • Backup Support: Backup support for any employee who is absent.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Customer Service Skills: Superior customer service skills, preferably in the fitness industry.
  • Experience: Experience working as a Member Service Representative at Planet Fitness preferred.
  • Supervisory Skills: Solid supervisory, diplomacy, and listening skills.
  • Computer Proficiency: Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Suite).
  • Physical Demands: Hard working, enthusiastic, and energetic.
  • Problem Resolution: Strong problem resolution skills.
  • Certifications: Current CPR Certification required.
  • Education: High school diploma/GED equivalent required.
  • Age: Must be 18 years of age or older.
