Job Overview

Modern Expo, Events and Exhibits is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Event Project Journeyman to lead our team of temporary staff in executing projects and achieving efficient quick execution. The ideal candidate will have a strong authoritative presence, excellent communication skills, and a demonstrated level of flexibility when goals change.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the labor, installation, and dismantle of events and exhibits
  • Provide direction and support to the labor team
  • Lead multiple Modern Expo projects simultaneously
  • Lead show standards and maintain quality customer service under pressure

Problem Solving:

  • Monitor and report on progress, problems, and solutions
  • Present reports and defining project progress, problems, and solutions
  • Responsible for quality assurance
  • Continuously seek new and innovative ways to solve problems while maintaining focus on continuous improvement

Safety:

  • Protect the safety of self, co-workers, clients, exhibitors, and Modern Expo employees always
  • Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor (APS/PS) without delay
  • Report safety-related accidents and incidents at once to the immediate supervisor/Point of Contact
  • Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures
  • Operate all equipment in a safe manner that will not lead to injury of yourself or others
  • Drive in accordance with the law

Customer Service and Department Cooperation:

  • Work with Account Managers to ensure delivery of client expectations
  • Work with Warehouse Manager to create and ensure proper equipment allocation for each event

Requirements:

  • Previously, being a Journeymen with a minimum of 6 month tenure, with all necessary on-site and off-site skills while meeting the Journeymen standard
  • The Senior Journeyman position requires an Exceptional Standard per the Journeyman Evaluation sheet, being defined as meeting and going above the Journeymen standard
  • 80% or more proficiency in all required skills from the Journeymen Skills List (listed below)

Skills List:

  • Lead Work - Supporting, directing, and managing internal and external labor
  • Loading/Unloading - Box trucks, trailers, and vans
  • Layouts - Understanding layouts while properly marking and taping floors
  • Carpet - Laying aisle carpet, booth carpet, and carpet padding. Properly kicking and taping down all carpet
  • Drape - Identifying drape. Assembling banjo 3' and 8'. Additionally, all specialty drape 12' and 16'
  • Tables - Vinyling and skirting tables to Modern Expo Standard. Safely stacking tables for transport
  • Electrical - Identifying cord types and placing/taping cords for booths and miscellaneous show equipment
  • Custom Builds - Building various AGAM and BeMatrix Structures
  • Driving - Operating all Modern Expo Vehicles and Box Trucks
  • Delivery - Drop off/Pick up of any Modern Expo equipment or rented equipment

Additional Skills:

  • High Lift - Support and Operator for any necessary rigging on site
  • Fork Lift - Operator for any necessary on-site tasks
